Vacancy Announcement for Board Members at Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority
1. Background
The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) was established under Section 35 of the TCAA Act, Chapter 80 (R.E 2023). The Authority is mandated to control, regulate, and promote the orderly development of civil aviation, encompassing air transport, aeronautical services, air navigation services, and their operations. As stipulated in the Act, the Minister for Transport has the authority to appoint qualified individuals to the TCAA Board. To facilitate this process, the Permanent Secretary invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill two (2) vacant positions on the TCAA Board.Job Posting Service
2. Functions of the Board
Appointed Board members will actively participate in fulfilling the Board’s responsibilities as outlined in Section table33 of the TCAA Act. These responsibilities include:
- Setting the Authority’s strategic objectives and values.
- Reviewing management performance standards.
- Ensuring the necessary resources are available for the Authority to achieve its objectives.
- Providing public education on the functions and obligations of the Authority.
- Determining and setting priorities for the Authority’s general performance and targets.
- Ensuring measures for the development of civil aviation are in place and implementable.
- Advising the Minister on the development and maintenance of the civil aviation policy framework and other matters deemed beneficial for civil aviation in the United Republic.
- Performing additional functions, as directed by the Minister, that are consistent with the Act.
- Approving the Authority’s budget.
3. Key Qualifications and Experience
Applicants for the Board member positions must meet the following qualifications:
- Must hold a degree from a recognized university.
- Should possess at least ten years of experience in one or more fields, including management, law, economics, finance, or engineering.
- Should have knowledge of the aviation industry.
- Must demonstrate they are unlikely to have a conflict of interest as per Section 37 of the TCAA Act.
- Must be willing to serve as a Board member.
- Must be committed to performing the functions and duties of a Board member competently and honestly.
4. Mode of Application
Applications must include the following:
- Copies of academic certificates.
- A detailed curriculum vitae (CV).
- A copy of the applicant’s National Identification card (NIDA).
- One recent passport-size photograph.
