Key Responsibilities
a. Project Implementation
- Lead day-to-day field operations in assigned regions, ensuring alignment with project
timelines and objectives. - Coordinate farmer recruitment and baseline data collection.
- Organize and oversee training sessions (Farmer Business School, Inclusive Contract Best online courses
Farming, Gender Makes Business Sense+). - Facilitate distribution of climate-resilient seeds, inputs, and equipment.
- Monitor and support the installation and use of solar-powered storage facilities and
aggregation points.
b. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with smallholder farmers, farmer groups,
community leaders, local government authorities, and development partners. - Maintain regular communication with the communication team.
- Facilitate partnerships with seed suppliers, financial institutions, and market off takers.
c. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Collect and submit accurate field data in line with the M&E framework.
- Track progress against KPIs, including farmer training numbers, yield increases,
market linkages, and income improvements. - Prepare monthly progress reports and contribute to quarterly and final reports for the
donor. - Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices.
d. Risk Management
- Identify operational challenges early and propose mitigation measures.
- Ensure project activities comply with environmental, gender, and safeguarding
standards.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Project Management, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in agricultural value chain projects, preferably with donor-funded programs.
- Proven track record of working with smallholder farmers, especially in maize or other staple crop value chains.
- Strong understanding of climate-smart agriculture practices.
- Experience in training facilitation, farmer mobilization, and partnership building.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills in English and Swahili.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with digital data collection tools is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively to rural and remote areas.
