and resorts within 7 Countries in the Eastern Africa region (Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Mozambique, Uganda, Rwanda, DR Congo).

We are currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of Financial Controller at the Dar es Salaam
Serena Hotel whose responsibilities will be as outlined below: –
Job Purpose:
The Financial Controller is responsible for the financial management and reporting of the hotel’s operations to ensure the hotel’s financial health, accuracy of financial records, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the unit’s long-term financial strategy in
alignment with overall business strategy. - Collaborate with other senior leaders and department heads to provide financial insights that drive
strategic initiatives. - Identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement and profitability improvement
across all departments and the unit. - Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting
requirements - Prepare and oversee the hotel’s financial statements.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights into the hotel’s performance and trends, helping the
management make informed decisions. - Accuracy in production of account and reports for the unit.
- Monitoring adherence to policies, procedures, and controls.
- Implement best practices in financial management and reporting across the organization.
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the unit, collaborating with department heads to establish
realistic financial targets and objectives. - Ensure that expenditure is contained within budgeted limits commensurate with levels of activity.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement without compromising quality.
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard the group’s assets and ensure compliance with
regulatory requirements. - Oversee internal and external audits, working closely with auditors to provide necessary
documentation and address findings. - Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring their professional growth and development.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment within the finance department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA) and must be a member of the National Board of
Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) in Tanzania. - Undergraduate degree in a related field will be an added advantage
- Proven experience of a minimum 8 years in financial management, preferably within the hospitality or
hotel industry.
