CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education) is internationally recognised as a leader in education for girls, for its child protection policy and practise, and as a voice for girls’ education and women’s empowerment at the highest levels. Founded in 1993, CAMFED supports young women throughout their primary and secondary school’s years, into economic training and further education, and onto leadership, as role models, activists, and philanthropists. CAMFED Tanzania is looking to recruit Communication Officer based in Dares Salaam.
Job Title: Communication Officer
Reporting to: Program Manager Advocacy, Policy and Partnerships
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Job Description:
To support the Communications in all aspects of work, including categorizing, preparing, and editing digital content for release in d internal and external communications, in strict adherence with CAMFED’s child protection guidelines.
Specific Accountabilities:
Communication visibility of CAMFED work:
Develop communication packages for different events.
Manage content for documentaries, video shooting, and film footage/photographic materials.
Prepare case studies and best practices to amplify CAMFED Tanzania’s work.
Develop a CAMFED online photobank for continuing use of photos.
Train other staff on communication issues and protocol as needed Liaising with district team members to identify materials and contexts to be shared.
Ensuring both CAMFED, CAMA, and donors branding are adhered to all.
Organise meetings and forums to share CAMFED work including national and international commemorations.
Ensuring child protection and safeguarding all the time of implementing the program
Drafting stories, case studies, blogs, and news and sharing for the website and medium profile.
Train CAMA members and staff on internet use and safety.
Provide knowledge on cybercrime to staff.
Take photos and videos for program documentation and best practices.
Newsletter for quarterly updates.
Production of communication materials.
Train CAMA members on media content, dialogues, and forums.
Manage relationships with media houses,
Identify and build the capacity of CAMA talents and ambassadors for different platforms local and international.
Implement communication strategies.
Prepare press conferences and press releases.
Identify influential spokespeople for CAMA dialogues.
Person specification
A degree in journalism, mass communication, or social sciences.
Experience in a relevant field of graphic design, reporting, and documentation.
Experience working with the media, both local and international media
Fluently in English and Kiswahili
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Experience working with the government.
