Young Africans Sports Club, or YANGA, is a football club situated in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Jangwani Street. The club, which was founded in 1935, now plays its home games at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. And resides in Kigamboni’s Avic Town as a team hostel.

Young Africans, also known as “Wananchi” (Citizens) and “Yanga” (Young Boys), is Tanzania’s largest club. The team has won 27 league championships and a number of domestic cups, as well as competing in many editions of the CAF Champions League. They are one of East Africa’s most powerful clubs, having won the CECAFA Club Championship five times.

Africans flocked to the club, and it became a symbol of the anti-colonial campaign. Young Africans were identified with nationalists and independence warriors, prompting the political party TANU to adopt yellow and green as its major colors. Young Africans is Tanzania’s most successful and powerful football team. The club is now undergoing a change that will see investors hold 49 percent of the club and club members own 51 percent.
