Position:Projects Assistant

Job Description

The Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in all aspects of Project Management in the company. The majority of the projects will be focused on engineering projects which enhance improvement and development of the company facilities that support core business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal customers and provide technical advice on resolving issues on the spot.
  • Estimate the technical and material needs for the project’s execution as well as cost estimates
  • Prepare and update depot engineering documents (drawings (2D/3D), P&IDs, PFDs) as required
  • Conduct site assessment studies as required to support project execution
  • Keep thorough records of all site engineering activities and contractor’s site diaries
  • Create site flash reports on ongoing projects and notify the Project Manager if there are any issues
  • Coordinate site needs of contractors (gate pass, material needs) for projects as required
  • Suggest modifying processes and technical designs to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • Establish work schedules and make necessary adjustments to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate project commissioning with relevant departments and ensure closure of snags leading to successful delivery of project
  • Develop and control the project risk register
  • Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and regulations related to sustainability, health, and safety
  • Notify the Project Manager of any project issues that may hinder meeting time, budget or quality objectives of the project

Knowledge and Experience

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Industrial / Mechanical / Petroleum Engineering. Other advanced training in the related field is an added advantage.
  • Registered Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board
  • At least 2 years’ post graduate experience in construction projects, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • Proficiency in MS Project and MS Office Suite of Tools, 3D modelling and CAD software
  • Complex problem-solving skills
  • Planning and forecasting
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Physically able to carry out assigned duties
  • Ability to investigate enquiries and respond in a timely manner
  • To maintain high standards of integrity, health, safety, hygiene and secure working environment within
  • Company Code of Conduct and Health & Safety policies and procedures
