We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Programme Manager for an upcoming civil society activity.
This position will be based in Tanzania and is contingent upon award.
Role overview
The Senior Programme Manager (SPM) role will lead on all programme management, compliance, and finance requirements. They will be FCDO’s primary contact point for all issues relating to programme management, financial management, risk management, asset management, delivery chain mapping, routine contract management, financial and progress reporting, governance, and compliance. The SPM will hold management responsibility for safeguarding compliance and implementation of safeguarding procedures and oversee the financial, grants and operational team.
Person specification
Relevant expertise in:
- Programme management of large and complex programmes in consortia, ideally for FCDO and/or SDC;
- Delivering development programmes accurately and at pace;
- Quickly, accurately and fully responding to client queries;
- Maintaining a broad yet working level knowledge of all aspects of a programme;
- Developing a deep understanding of FCDO requirements;
- Proactively foreseeing FCDO questions and providing key information to enable decisions including on programme adaptation;
- Concise and clear written and oral communication;
- Accurate and timely financial reporting and forecasting;
- Effective management of a diverse programme management team.
- Outstanding attention to detail, professional communication and donor management skills, critical thinking and a results mindset and capability at an internationally competitive level.
- Fluent in Kiswahili
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable level of professional experience in public administration, international development, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of projects management principles and practices and experience in increasingly senior roles;
- at least 2 years line management in sophisticated programmes at a senior level working in a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
