The Zanzibar Examinations Council has now announced the Matokeo ya Darasa la Saba results today, 30 December 2024. 46,021 candidates took the exam, of which 40,746 were from government schools and 5,275 were from private schools.

Zanzibar’s Standard Seven exam results for 2024 have shown a notable improvement, with the overall pass rate increasing by 1.66%, rising from 95% last year to 96.66%. A total of 46,021 students took the exam, with 40,746 from government schools and 5,275 from private institutions. According to the Zanzibar Examination Council, 44,486 candidates achieved passing grades of A, B, C, and D, while 1,535 students, representing 3.34% of the candidates, received failing grades (F).

The pass rates were broken down by gender, with 20,571 male students (46.24%) and 23,915 female students (53.76%) passing the exams. A significant decrease in the failure rate was also reported, with the proportion of students failing dropping by 1.66% compared to last year. This improvement in academic performance was particularly evident in subjects like Kiswahili and Mathematics, where pass rates saw notable increases. Kiswahili’s pass rate rose to 94.87% from 89.32% in 2023, while Mathematics saw a jump to 55.52% from 50.10% the previous year
