KUCCPS Process of Revision and Placement to University, College or TVET
Job Overview
KUCCPS process of revision and placement to University, College or TVET
Before joining University, College, or TVET under government-sponsored in Kenya, students must apply for courses through the KUCCPS portal. Below is the process of how revision and placement work.
Functions of KUCCPS
KUCCPS is a Kenyan government agency that is mandated with the task of processing applications to join universities, colleges, and TVET under government-sponsored.
KCSE graduates who meet the minimum cut-off points are allowed to select the course of their choice and are then placed to various higher institutions of learning under government-sponsored.
KUCCPS application and placement is only meant for Kenyan Students.
Students who want to apply under Private sponsored are not allowed to apply through KUCCPS but should instead use their respective university admission portals.
There are four steps of kuccps application
- Course selection in secondary school
- First revision of courses
- Announcing of first placement results
- Second Revision of Courses
- Third Revision of courses
- Announcing of final placement results
- Inter-institution transfer
- Every step has a deadline that should be observed.
Step 1: Course Selection in Secondary School
KCSE registered candidates are required to select their courses before sitting for their exams.
School Principals are required to submit applications for their KCSE candidates indicating the institutions that they wish to join and the courses they would like to pursue.
Submission of candidate’s application details is done through KUCCPS school’s portal.
Step 2: First revision of courses
The first Revision of courses starts a few weeks after students have received their KCSE exam results.
Revision is open to students for degree, diploma, craft, and artisan courses.
Degree courses (C+)
Diploma courses (C-)
Craft courses (D)
Artisan courses (E)
In first revision of courses, both those students who selected their courses in secondary school and those who did not select are given a chance to revise their courses or pick courses afresh.
Revision of courses takes place through KUCCPS student portal (learn how it works)
Step 3: Release of first placement results
After first revision of courses is complete, KUCCPS will process the application information and release a list of students who have not been placed. Those who have been placed will also see a notice on their KUCCPS student account that they provisionally secured a course subject to approval.
NOTE that you will not be able to know the University or Course you have been placed until second and final placement results have been released. In first placement results, you will only be told that you have provisionally secured a course.
Step 4: Second and Third Revision of Courses
Students who have not been placed after first placement and those who did not apply will be given a chance to do second revision and third revision of courses (final chance).
NOTE: You cannot do second or third revision of courses if you have already placed.
Step 5: Release of second and final placement results
After the second and third revision of courses is complete, KUCCPS will process applicant details and release the placement results.
The final placement results will contain the University and Course that each applicant has been placed.
If the application for the course you selected was not successful, KUCCPS will place you in any institution and Course.
If you did not apply for any course at all during school application, first revision, second revision, and third revision of courses, then you will not be placed by KUCCPS. You will have to make your arrangements for private sponsored applications and admission.
Step 6: Inter Institution Transfer
After revision of courses and placement is complete, students who have been placed to various learning institutions will have a chance to apply for inter institution transfer using the KUCCPS portal (Learn how to apply for inter institution transfer).
KUCCPS will announce the dates when the portal will be opened and closed for inter institution transfer.
It is not a guarantee that your inter institution transfer will be successful.
End of Process
After inter institution transfer is complete and you have been placed by KUCCPS to a University and Course of your choice, its functions end there. It is the responsibility of your University, College, or TVET to send admission letters to you. KUCCPS does not issue admission letters to students.
