What you will do:

The Secondary Marketplace Department at Watu operates using a dealership model. It is responsible for the storage, refurbishment, refinancing and sale of second hand assets.

Business & Operations Oversight: Working directly with the Kenya Secondary marketplace team to drive excellent execution towards set objectives and the targets across the regional warehouse network, to drive the following key deliverables:

  • Business Results: Close oversight towards day to day sales targets, repayment rate, to meet both short term and strategic objectives of the department
  • Process Optimisation: Keen eye to identify opportunities for improvements and ability to develop systemic solutions aiming at incremental improvements to our tools and processes.
  • Operational excellence: Set the standard and clear definition of ‘what good looks like’ and take the lead towards achievement of operational excellence, both as a practice and culture

Leadership and People Management:

Leadership: Ability to set clear vision and inspire team to actualize it. This includes ability and willingness to ‘roll up’ sleeves and lead by example on the front line whenever needed; as well as creating a conducive, safe and objective environment for inclusivity and engagement for the team.
Management: Ability to plan, organize and control commercial activities as informed by sound decisions regardless of the prevailing circumstances or pressure points.

Sales and sales channels management:

Create and manage new sales channels to generate sales eg Bulk buyer, partnerships,digital marketing, offline sales etc and improving the already existing sales channels
Commercial planning and projection management monitoring asset demand in various regions and ensuring enough supply
Custodian of sales targets with daily sales follow up ensuring daily sales targets are met
Close coordination with the Field Marketing team, customer success and retail teams for lead generation and
Understanding all market segments, vendors, and customers, bringing valuable insights and convictions to support your data-driven commercial recommendations.

Pricing and Write-off Management:

Create and manage Used Assets Pricing Strategy ,Resourcing, System, Process and Tool
Close monitoring of the write off trends and making calculated decisions to maintain it within aligned targets.
Promotions and discounts management

Administration and Day-to-Day Activities:

Oversee day-to-day administrative activities of the region by traveling to various locations assigned
Ensure accurate record-keeping, documentation, and reporting.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide timely reports to senior management.
Advocacy and Stakeholder management : Working closely with the Secondary marketplace teams, leadership and other stakeholders to advocate for and protect the interests of Watu Africa Kenyan business entity with both internal and external key stakeholders

What we are looking for:

5+ years experience in a fast paced sales/commercial environment
Aggressive , Self motivated with high energy and ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and flexibility to adopt fast paced and dynamic working environments
Demonstrated strong leadership skills, driving performance, influencing culture and love for developing talents
Strong analytical and data management skills
Experience in risk management, fraud prevention, and reduction strategies
Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport, work and blend with a team of individuals from diverse backgrounds
Excellent interpersonal skills with a team spirit to go an extra mile and assist other team members to achieve common goals
You possess flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
