Rikolto is an international NGO with over 40 years of experience in partnering with farmer organizations and food chain stakeholders across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. They work in 17 countries worldwide through seven regional offices.
Rikolto aims to contribute to viable livelihoods of organized family farmers in the South and North through sustainable agriculture. They empower farmer groups to become solid business partners and implement future-proof, sustainable practices. They support them so that their products meet quality standards. Rikolto connects them with innovators in the food industry to explore new ways of doing business.
Rikolto builds bridges of trust and trade, between the food industry, governments, research institutions, banks, and farmer organizations around one central question: “What will we eat tomorrow?” They plant and harvest new solutions, making the food system more transparent, so consumers are able to make a sustainable choice.
Rikolto runs programs in 17 countries worldwide through seven regional offices. In East Africa Rikolto has boots on the ground in Congo DRC, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. In Tanzania Rikolto head office is in Arusha with sub offices in Mbeya, iringa, Dodoma, Katavi and Tanga We’re a close-knit network of accessible and knowledgeable colleagues, willing to share experience and eager to inspire others.
