Njombe Town Council, located in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania in the Njombe Region, was established in July 2007 under the Local Government Act no. 8 of 1982.
The topography range from l 000 m to 2 000 m above sea level and covers an area of 3 212 km² which is equivalent to 30% of the total district area. About 1 927 km² (60%) of the Town Council area is suitable for agriculture and livestock production.
